Álvaro Matesanz
Álvaro was born in Madrid. He began his musical studies at the age of 16 in the main modern music schools in this city (Escuela de Música Creativa, 21th Century Music, Instituto de Música y Tecnología de Madrid).
He is gradueted in Teaching in the field of music by Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2012) and Bachelor in Music Performance (electric guitar) by Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio (2019).
As a composer, he studied with Maestro Ramón Paús. He works closely with Jose Luis Lara of Estudios La Taiga in the production of music for audiovisual media in projects ranging from advertising to promotional campaigns by the Federación Española de Gimnasia. He has also collaborated with the winner of the Goya award, Fernando Velazquez.
He has worked on the creation of the radio plays “El último sueño de Shakespeare y Cervantes” and “Romance de Federico García Lorca” and produced the sound fiction adaptation of the graphic novel “Los surcos del azar” by Paco Roca with the company Laboratorio Sonoro for M21 Radio.
As a guitarist, he has a prolific career as a studio and live musician playing and recording for several groups, and touring and sharing stage with important bands in the
spanish rock and roll scene like Loquillo, Barón Rojo, Los Suaves, La Fuga…
Currently
Currently he combines his position as Musical Director of the Corleone Grupo / Orquesta and Vermut Mamut ( with more than forty concerts a year) with performances by other artists; from soloists, to collaborations with symphony orchestras such as the Joven Orquesta de Estudiantes y Colegios Mayores and Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
He is a student of orchestra conducting by Maestro Miguel Romea and is the principal conductor and founder of the Orquesta de Cabecera.
As a teacher he has taught guitar and electric bass, combo and ensembles, improvisation, composition and harmony in public and private schools and with private students for ten years now.
